Rumbling Sounds Returning Soon
The “Indian Maiden” states that if it thunders in February it will frost in April. And as many of us heard a few days ago, we had thunder in February! But the thunder that storm created is nothing in comparison to the “thunder” we will experience in March at Chatham Speedway!
That’s right folks, I said March! As in Saturday, March 3rd at Chatham Speedway. This will be the only actual race at the speedway during the month of March, however we will kick off the 2018 Racing Season with weekly racing beginning April 7th.
If you are wondering why just one race in March, well, it’s simple! This will be a race featuring all the regular weekly classes at Chatham Speedway (Compacts, Factory Stock, Street Stock, B-Mod, Limited and Crate Late Model). But this will be the debut race for a brand-new sanction of the much loved, full blown Late Models. The new “Louisiana Late Model Series” will be making their first of five appearances at Chatham Speedway on Saturday, March 3rd. They will return on April 7th, May 7th, June 2nd and July 7th.
The Louisiana Late Model Series has been put together by well-known Late Model drivers, Rob Litton of Alexandria and Donald Watson, Late Model racer and owner of Baton Rouge Raceway. Mr. Watson has teamed up with Mr. Litton to put together the new Louisiana Late Model Series to bring Late Model racing back to the fans at a more affordable price for Track Owners across the state.
Currently, the Louisiana Late Model Series has events scheduled for the 2018 Racing Season at four Louisiana race tracks. Chatham Speedway, Boothill Speedway in Greenwood, Thunder Valley Speedway in Forest Hill and, of course, Baton Rouge Raceway in Zachary. This series will hold exceptional racing action from all your favorite Late Model racers and is sure to grow as the weeks of this season go by.
Local Late Model driver, Nicholas Brown of Quitman, will be a part of this series in 2018. When asked what Brown thought of the Louisiana Late Model Series he replied, “I think it’s a great start at giving the local/regional guys more opportunities to race without having to travel quite so far.” Brown also stated, “I will be following this series this year, as much as family and business obligations will allow.” Brown likes the looks of the 2018 Chatham Speedway Racing Schedule and is looking forward to putting on a good show for the race fans. The Brown family has experience in the operations of the Chatham, LA track, and understand well the need to keep the fans happy and give them the best show possible each race night.

Mark your calendars, Saturday, March 3rd, Chatham Speedway, BE THERE! The transformation from “Hunting Season” to “Racing Season” will begin and you won’t want to miss it. Gates will open at 4pm, Hot Laps begin at 7pm and Racing starts at 8pm. Saturday night dirt track racing is best when experienced with family and friends, so bring them all!
